Creative 360 Opens the 23-24 Season with Classic Comedy “The Philadelphia Story”

– On Friday September 22nd and Saturday September 23rdat 7pm, Creative 360 opens the hilarious screwball comedy, The Philadelphia Story by Phillip Barry, on their new stage.

“This production is the first performance of the season and the first performance in Creative 360’s new location!” said Creative 360 staff member and the show’s director, Laura Brigham. “The Philadelphia Story is good old-fashioned fun with a lot of heart. The core of the show is about family and learning to accept others, flaws and all. This show is a great fit for Creative 360.”

The Philadelphia Story takes us to the home of Tracy Lord, a Philadelphia socialite who is about to be married for the second time when her first husband shows up to throw a wrench in the works. The wedding weekend grows more eventful as a handsome gossip reporter and a camerawoman arrive to cover the wedding… a ploy Tracy’s brother hopes will divert attention from the current family scandal.

The big screen version of this witty comedy of manners revitalized the career of Katharine Hepburn, who played the formidable socialite alongside Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart (in his only Academy Award–winning performance). This fast-talking, comedy is a tale of acceptance and human frailty and is absolutely hilarious performed live!

“I love all the characters in this show,” said actor Aaron Mealey, who plays the role of ex-husband, C.K. Dexter Haven. “They all have good hearts, great intentions; they are nice people AND they’re funny. There are so many laughable moments – people are going to love it.”

The production features actors from the entire Great Lakes Bay Region: Amy Delaney from Sanford; John Tanner from Auburn; Paul Lutenske from Saginaw; Katie MacLean-Peters from Bay City; Aaron Mealey, Lux Izquierdo, Grace Phoenix, Nicholas Pellegrino, and Jennifer Tyrell from Midland; Dan Kettler from Freeland; and Kat Johns from Harrison.

Performances are Friday, September 22 and Saturday September 23, at 7:00pm, at Creative 360’s new location at 5501 Jefferson Avenue. Admission to this event is $15 prepay/$20 at the door. This event is BYOB. Please call ahead or visit the website at becreative360.org for reservations.
