‘The Naughty List’ a fun filled holiday experience for Families at Creative 360

– The Naughty List, a Theatre for Young Audiences musical performed by adults, will make its return to Midland this December 17 & 18 at Creative 360. The family experience includes the show, cookie decorating and gift making with the elves.

The play centers around an elf named Sparkle who is always the star of the annual Christmas pageant at Santa’s workshop. However, a new and talented elf comes onto the scene, and Sparkle has to learn how to manage feelings of jealousy and to appreciate the talents of her friends before she, herself, ends up on The Naughty List.

“It’s a great lesson,” said the author, Laura Brigham. “This is a fun way for kids to start thinking about how important it is to treat others with kindness and support and keep that holiday spirit all year round.”

The show is specifically geared toward younger children as the author wrote it when her own children were young. The story is driven by musical numbers, hilarious pratt falls, and well-known holiday songs. Audiences can join in the fun by suggesting their favorite Christmas carols or games, and the brave viewers sitting in the front row can play a game of “Telephone” with the cast. Brigham designed the play to be engaging and relatively quick with a run time of about an hour with no intermission.

“Sometimes the hardest part about taking our kids to a live performance is having to get everyone settled back into a chair quietly after intermission. Once they’ve gotten a chance to get up and run around and eat a treat, sitting quietly is a stretch. This show is only an hour long, so once they start getting wiggly in their chairs, it’s about time to be done,” Brigham said.

After the performance is concluded, the attendees will get to meet the elves, decorate a holiday cookie and make a small gift that they can give! It is an experience the whole family will enjoy.

The cast is comprised of four actors, each portraying elves. Christina Compean of Midland plays Titterbell. Donald Owens III of Midland plays Wobbles. Gretchen Shope of Midland portrays ‘Setta. Avery Weller of Essexville plays Sparkle.

“The Naughty List” will perform 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 and 1:00 p.m. Sunday Dec. 18 at Creative 360. Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults.
