Creative 360 Honors National Poetry Month with Community Program

April 19, 2022, Midland, MI. – On Sunday, April 24th, community members of all ages, experiences and backgrounds will come together to celebrate poetry’s place in our personal lives and our culture. On that day, Creative 360, in partnership with Midlanders Cheryl & Larry Levy, honor 25 years of National Poetry Month with Midland Reads Poetry. This spoken word program will feature community members sharing poems that are meaningful to them. Everyone is welcome from high school freshman, to word hobbyists, to veteran poets.

Inspired by an off-hand comment that poetry was ‘difficult to get into’, the Levys wanted to help the community see how valuable poetry can be. For them, the goal is to make poetry accessible and welcoming for everyone.

“I never know what people are going to select to read,” Larry Levy said in a recent interview about the event. “There’s such a richness and variety in poetry if you give it a chance. A life without poetry is missing something.”

Admission to this event is free and light refreshments will be provided. Donations to Creative 360’s programming are always welcome. Let us know you are coming online at becreative360.org or by calling the arts center at 989-837-1885.
