Creative 360 will launch its 2015 Yes We Can! program with a luncheon to honor community leaders and educators, B.J. (84) and Herb (86) Scogg. The luncheon will be held in Creative 360’s award-winning gallery on January 8, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Cost is $30. RSVP is required by January 4.
Northwood University’s NADA Center will cater the luncheon which includes garden salad, highland chicken (bourbon cream sauce, mushrooms, onions), California blend vegetables, garlic mashed potatoes and a peppermint brownie.
B.J. and Herb Scogg are both originally from Ohio and moved to Midland in 1956 when Herb was hired to develop the instruction and competitive swimming program for the Midland Public Schools.
B.J. taught elementary, pre-school, and Sunday school for many years, and was named Michigan Council Cooperative Preschools, Preschool Teacher of the Year in 1995.
Herb, a Navy veteran, was a member of the Bowling Green Swim Team for four years, and was the first swim coach at West Virginia University. In Midland, Herb served as principal of three elementary schools, became Director of School Administration, and has served on numerous boards. Both B.J. and Herb are active in several clubs and service organizations.

This signature program recognizes and honors those 80 and over in a way that respects their knowledge and taps into their legacy of creativity. This amazing, but often disregarded segment of the population offers a wealth of experience and knowledge that should be shared with people of all ages. The multi-faceted series offers opportunities to learn about community leaders, authors, musicians, artists, and scientists. Creative 360 is a not-for-profit community arts and wellness organization founded in 1994.
